NOTICE OF REFERENDUM

 Town of Morgan, Oconto County

Referendum Election Details

At an election to be held in the Town of Morgan on April 4, 2023, the following proposed Town Board, will be submitted to a vote of the people:

WHEREAS, the Town of Morgan has a Land Use Plan Commission which designed a 20-year comprehensive plan; formally adopted and amended by the Town of Morgan Board of Supervisors after public comment and public hearing which concisely identifies their preferred development strategy for the Town of Morgan and the properties within its boundaries; and,

WHEREAS, the Town of Morgan has a publicly adopted Vision Statement articulating the importance of health, safety, environmental protection, and rural living.  “The Town of Morgan is home to people who value a rural place to live and work.  Healthy natural areas contribute positively to the scenic beauty of the town, promote an abundance of wildlife, offer a variety of recreational outlets, and maintain clean ground and surface water.   People in Morgan understand the fact that the land is the heart of the town’s economic livelihood and promote sustainable land use practices through the implementation of this comprehensive plan for future generations to enjoy.;” and,

WHEREAS, the Town of Morgan Land Use Plan Commission and the Town of Morgan Board of Supervisors has had multiple discussions with the public identifying their concerns regarding health, safety and the environment along with conditions and requirements that might address those concerns; and,

WHEREAS, the Town of Morgan Board of Supervisors desires to obtain additional, public input on industrial solar in the Town of Morgan.

 

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT:

The advisory referendum questions are being submitted to the electors of the Town of Morgan as a means of obtaining additional, public input on support of the actions outlined in the Town of Morgan (townofmorgan.org) Industrial Solar Resolution 2022-01; adopted by the Morgan Town Board of Supervisors in October 2022.  This referendum is advisory only.  The results of the advisory referendum are not binding on the Town of Morgan Board of Supervisors.

 

Ballot Text

The question will appear on the ballot as follows:

 

QUESTION 1: Do you support industrial solar in the Town of Morgan?

A YES vote on QUESTION 1 means you support industrial solar in the Town of Morgan.  

A NO vote on QUESTION 1 means you do not support industrial solar in the Town of Morgan.

 

QUESTION 2: Should the Town of Morgan Board of Supervisors continue to support health, safety and environmental conditions and requirements pertaining to industrial solar in the Town of Morgan?

A YES vote on QUESTION 2 means you want the Town of Morgan Board of Supervisors to continue to support health, safety and environmental conditions and requirements pertaining to industrial solar in the Town of Morgan.

A NO vote on QUESTION 2 means you do not want the Town of Morgan Board of Supervisors to continue to support health, safety and environmental conditions and requirements pertaining to industrial solar in the Town of Morgan.
